Magga Dan anchored alongside Thala Dan at Mawson on 8 February. Leaving on 11
February she arrived 130 km off Wilkes on 16 February. An aerial flight
visited Chick Island to establish a new automatic weather station. At Mawson
Mrs Nel Law, a passenger on the voyage, became the first woman to visit the
AAT and Terre Adelie. The ship visited Dumont d'Urville, explored Oates Land
and called at Macquarie Island on the return passage. A coastal survey was
conducted from Wilkes to Oates Land.
